Miles Nelson to Announce Candidacy for Carmel Mayor
(Carmel, IN) – At 12 p.m. tomorrow, January 26, current City Councilor, Miles Nelson (D), will file paperwork and officially announce his candidacy for Mayor of Carmel. The Primary Election will be held on May 2, 2023. It is expected Miles will be the only candidate to file in the Democratic primary, making him the presumed challenger to the winner of a contentious Republican primary in the November 2023 General Election.

WHY: Given the retirement of longtime mayor, Jim Brainard, this November will host the most competitive general election in the city’s history. Observers expect this race to be one of the most closely watched in the state of Indiana.
